Relying on Huahu airport, Ezhou gives full play to its regional advantages, focuses on building a comprehensive multimodal transport system, and creates a large hub, channel and platform based on central China, serving the whole country and facing the world. At present, the construction of the main project and supporting projects of Ezhou Huahu airport is progressing steadily, and the operation preparation work has been carried out in an all-round way.

On the terminal project of Huahu airport, workers are nervously carrying out welding work. The housing construction bid 2 project undertaken by China Construction Third Engineering Bureau includes the civil engineering and related supporting projects of terminal building, freight station and express center, which is the main part of Ezhou airport.

"The civil part of the terminal has been completed, and the steel roof and curtain wall under construction are expected to be basically completed in mid April." Zheng Zhe, the production manager of the project, said that the whole terminal project will be completed in mid July, and commissioning and acceptance will be carried out in mid August.

The main structure of the tower has also been completed, and the modeling inspiration comes from the flower of Ezhou City - Lamei. Its overall petal shape is symmetrical, simple and elegant, simple and generous, which symbolizes that Ezhou airport will bloom in the land of Wu and Chu in the future, and be proud of being one of the world's freight hubs. Walking into the construction site of the West runway of Ezhou Huahu airport, the 3600m long runway has been paved with a layer of asphalt. It is understood that Huahu airport plans to build two long-distance runways with a length of 3600m, a width of 45m and a 4E standard in the East and West, and plans to build the third runway in the east of the East runway in the long term.

As a professional freight airport, Huahu airport will realize a 1.5-hour flight circle after it is put into operation in 2021, covering five national urban agglomerations, radiating 90% of the country's total economy and 80% of the population.

Focusing on the construction of professional freight airport, further strengthening the integration of resources, and innovating the construction and industrial development mode of airport logistics hub city, the overall plan of Ezhou Airport Economic Zone was officially approved by Hubei provincial government in March 2019, and Ezhou Airport Economic Zone was officially established on December 18, 2019.

Huahu airport, together with Wuhan Tianhe Airport, Yangluo port, Sanjiang port, Wujiashan railway hub and other transportation hubs, will jointly form the "rail, water, public and air" multimodal transport system in Wuhan metropolitan area, forming a development pattern of "water port, land port and air port" linkage.

According to the staff, Ezhou's airport economic zone is strategically positioned as an international air cargo hub, a national multimodal transport innovation demonstration base, a new highland of opening up in the central region, and an airport industry cluster of urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River.

According to the plan, by 2025, the annual air cargo throughput will reach 2.45 million tons and the annual passenger throughput will reach 1 million person times. At the same time, a group of internationally competitive famous brands and advantageous enterprises are gathered to strongly support Ezhou and radiate and drive the development of surrounding areas, with the total economic volume reaching 150 billion yuan and the tax revenue reaching 12 billion yuan. With the "obstruction" of the golden waterway of the Yangtze River being gradually opened up, the deepwater channel has been built, which can accommodate more large ships.

In the section of daijiazhou River in Ezhou of the Yangtze River, the "645" waterway regulation project of the Yangtze River is green.

"645" project refers to raising the water depth of the channel from Wuhan to Anqing to 6 meters and from Wuhan to Yichang to 4.5 meters.

The total length of Wuhan anqing section is 386.5km, with meandering waterways and shallow beaches. It is necessary to construct 24 shoal protection belts, 4 bottom protection belts, 5 dam bodies, 15.4km high beach protection, 13.3km bank protection reinforcement, 4.77 million cubic meters of infrastructure dredging and ecological construction projects. The daijiazhou section of Ezhou water area is one of them.

"We make every effort to build a 'green project', widely using steel wire mesh, ecological slope brick and other eco-friendly structural construction." Li Ping, deputy project manager of the bid section II of the 6-meter-deep waterway regulation project of Wuhan anqing section of the Yangtze River trunk line, introduced that two shoal protection belts with lengths of 690 meters and 685 meters were built at the Bank of Chihu port to protect the 330 meter high shoreline of each shoal protection belt.

Now, the 6-meter-deep waterway regulation project of Wuhan anqing section of the Yangtze River trunk line has been fully completed and put into trial operation. 10000 DWT ships within 6 meters of draught can pass through, forming a "water highway" that "runs smoothly in Hubei, Jiangxi and Anhui, and reaches Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai", realizing another leap in the navigation capacity of the Yangtze River trunk line. According to the budget, after the project is put into operation, the regional GDP will increase by more than 45 billion yuan.
