On February 3, New Zealand Air cargo flight nz1082 took off from Christchurch and successfully arrived at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, marking that Guangzhou has become the latest destination in New Zealand's air route network.
There will be three cargo flights to and from Guangzhou this week to fully support the upcoming Chinese new year peak; from next week, the frequency will be adjusted to two flights a week. The route uses Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner to fly, with higher fuel efficiency and lower carbon emissions compared with the same class aircraft. The new route starts from Christchurch, which can help South Island's fresh and high-quality products quickly arrive in China; at the same time, ensure that epidemic prevention materials and electronic products can also be exported to New Zealand in time.
Under the multiple challenges faced by the aviation industry, Air New Zealand adjusted its operation strategy following the market changes. In April last year, it successfully returned to the Chinese market with the mode of "passenger to cargo", and then resumed passenger transport in June. The first cargo flight in Guangzhou will further provide more transportation options for the import and export trade between China and Singapore.
