Egyptair cargo has received the third airbus a330-200 aircraft to be converted from a passenger plane to a cargo plane, foreign media reported Wednesday.
The move is in line with plans made by Egypt's civil aviation ministry and egyptair to upgrade its passenger and cargo fleet, chairman and CEO of egyptair cargo said in a statement Wednesday.
He added that the company was now working to expand into new markets in Africa, the gulf cooperation council and European countries.
Egyptair cargo reportedly recently received two airbus a330-200 aircraft from German aircraft modification company Elbe Flugzeugwerke(EFW).
The aircraft was delivered only after a successful test flight in June and a supplementary type certificate (STCs) issued by the European aviation safety agency (EASA) and the Egyptian civil aviation authority (ECAA) in July, the company said on its official website.
Each modified aircraft is said to be capable of carrying up to 61 tonnes of cargo.
